Sulfur Cube Exploit: Why It Hit 6b6t and Not 2b2t

Etianl found a way to make sulfur cubes that never die. His group used thousands of them against 6b6t in September 2026, and FitMC told the story in a video with over a million views. We stopped it without a single ban. 2b2t has no sulfur cubes at all, because it still runs 1.21.4.

The sulfur cube exploit makes sulfur cubes that never die. A griefer called Etianl found it by accident. In September 2026, his group spawned thousands of them on 6b6t to try to crash it. 6b6t is a Minecraft anarchy server with no rules. It was hit first because it already ran Minecraft 26.2, the update that added sulfur cubes. 2b2t did not. FitMC, the biggest anarchy YouTuber, made a full video about it on 6b6t, because on 2b2t it could not happen. 2b2t still runs 1.21.4, which has no sulfur cubes, and its rules ban players for exploits like this. On 6b6t, we only added a small limit on how many cubes can be in one area, and nobody was banned. The video passed 1.1 million views in eight days.

FitMC posted this full video about the sulfur cube attack on 6b6t on 9 October 2026.

What Is the Sulfur Cube Exploit?

It makes invincible sulfur cubes, cubes that can never be killed.

Sulfur cubes came with Chaos Cubed, the Minecraft 26.2 update of 16 June 2026. A cube can swallow a block and take on its properties. Shears take the block back out.

A cube holding TNT explodes when you light it with flint and steel. The exploit lights the cube and shears it at the same moment. The normal game cannot do both at once by hand, so Etianl used a hacked client. The shears take the TNT out, but the cube stays primed, ready to explode, forever.

A primed cube takes no damage, and no bucket can pick it up. It can still swallow blocks. With magma inside, it burns any player who touches it.

Who Found the Sulfur Cube Exploit?

Etianl, a griefer who runs the YouTube channel Mountains Of Lava Inc., found it by accident. His group has griefed servers for about four years, including those of TommyInnit and ElestialHD. FitMC has credited him in three earlier videos, all about 2b2t.

He found the bug while updating his tools for Minecraft 26.2. He was looking for a dupe, a way to copy items.

"I eventually landed on the idea that maybe I will try inserting TNT into the Cube, and when I ignite it remove the TNT from the Cube to see if I could get a free explosion."
"Instead of exploding the Cube expanded violently like it wanted to explode but never actually did until I fed it a TNT block."
Etianl, to the 6b6t blog, 18 October 2026

Feed it TNT again and it explodes. But if it swallows any other block, the shears cannot take that block out, and the cube can never be killed.

He knew right away what that meant for a server with no rules.

"On an anarchy server they might let someone make cubes until it actually becomes a problem for the server. The players on the server can't remove them."
Etianl

On 6 September 2026, he added the tool, CubePrimer, to Trouser-Streak, his add-on for the Meteor hack client.

"I do not know how useful this module will be, but I did find it funny that you can make un-killable Sulfur Cubes this way."
Etianl, 6 September 2026

Three days later, on 9 September, he started playing on 6b6t to test it on a real server.

Etianl posted his own video of the attack on 9 October 2026, one hour before FitMC's.

These are his crew, with the jobs he gave them:

  • etianl: evil mastermind
  • blicks, cuba_black and BasedMark: cube placers
  • 2xc3: cube placer, cube maker and farm builder, who provided the first cubes
  • jirkamaster: cube placer, cube maker and technical support
  • CookieMunscher: an original member who placed and made lots of cubes
  • Punchy: sponsored the whole operation

Why Did It Hit 6b6t First?

Because 6b6t already ran Minecraft 26.2, and 2b2t did not. And on 6b6t, an exploit like this does not get you banned.

"His first target was the Anarchy server 6B6T since it had already received the Chaos Cubed update."
FitMC

6b6t moved to 26.2 in July 2026, about three weeks after Mojang released it.

Etianl asked his Discord for an anarchy server already on 26.2. His crew member 2xc3 said 6b6t was updated and offered his own cubes to test with. Punchy, a 6b6t player, brought the rest.

"Punchy provided all of the kits and resources needed for our operation from his immense stash of over 60 million items. Because of the availability of all the things required for testing I chose 6b6t as the first target."
Etianl

Etianl goes by Lnaite in our Discord. Minutes after FitMC's video went up on 9 October, he made a joke about qbasty, the owner of 6b6t.

"qbasty said he wanted more players"
"Maybe this will help"

How Did Sulfur Cubes Crash 6b6t?

Named cubes never despawn, so the group bred thousands and let them loose at spawn to lag the server.

At a secret farm, they killed cubes so each split into two small ones, which grow up in 20 minutes. A name tag on the first cube passes to both.

They carried the cubes in buckets, packed into shulker boxes, and released them at 0,0 in the Nether. It is one of the busiest spots on 6b6t, a server that held over 1,155 players at once. One click primed each cube and filled it with magma.

Each yellow dot is a sulfur cube near Nether 0,0. The server still ran at 19.8 of 20 ticks per second. Screenshot from FitMC's video.

Not every player ran from the swarm. Etianl's favourite part was what strangers did with the cubes.

"The best moments for me was when there were a dozen or more random players who all came together right at the heart of spawn not to fight, but to have fun and play with cubes."
"We achieved a rare moment of peace in anarchy."
Etianl

The day after the Nether swarm, the group raised a second army at overworld spawn. This time they kept going to see how many cubes the server could take.

FitMC says this army caused a crash loop. Each time the server restarted, 6b6t's backup server held the players and kept their spot.

What Is the Giga Cube?

It was the group's biggest weapon.

"The group placed 3,000 invincible sulfur cubes all in the exact same spot."
FitMC

By the time the group left it alone, Etianl says it was closer to 4,000 cubes in one hole.

Primed cubes take no suffocation damage, so they could all share the space. Getting close could drop a player's frame rate.

Can You Kill an Invincible Sulfur Cube?

Not as a normal player. Normal sulfur cubes are not invincible, but a primed cube that lost its TNT is. It takes no damage. The usual way to get rid of a mob like that is to drop it into the End's void. A primed cube cannot pass through an End portal.

Etianl put it simply on 9 October.

"they never die"
"They never despawn"
"They are forever"
Lnaite (Etianl) in the 6b6t Discord

FitMC said only an admin could remove them. On 6b6t, we gave that job to the server itself.

Is the Sulfur Cube Exploit Patched?

On 6b6t, yes: the cubes can no longer pile up and crash the server. Since 12 October 2026, when one area has too many sulfur cubes, the server removes the extra ones on its own. That includes the ones that cannot die.

Mojang's bug report for primed cubes that lose their TNT, MC-311681, is confirmed and still open. Mojang has not patched it in Minecraft itself. It shipped a mob that griefers can make unkillable, and left every server to deal with it.

"When one area has too many sulfur cubes, the extra cubes are now removed. Before, thousands of sulfur cubes piled up at spawn and in the Nether and could make the server lag."
6b6t #changelog, 13 October 2026

On 12 October, 29,028 cubes at spawn went down to 522. That was what was left at spawn before the limit. Etianl says his crew made over 47,000 cubes there in total.

WhereBeforeAfter
Overworld spawn29,028522
Nether 0,02,228397
A player's farm1,889151

Before the limit, 99.8% of the spawn cubes could not be killed. Of those, 10,877 carried the same name: "WATCH MOUNTAINS OF LAVA INC ON YOUTUBE".

Did 6b6t Ban the Griefers?

No. Nobody was banned for the exploit: not Etianl, not his crew, not anyone who bred a cube. On an anarchy server, an exploit is the server's problem to fix, not a reason to punish players.

On 2b2t, the same attack would end in bans. Its terms forbid exactly what the group did.

"Do not attempt to undermine the server's efforts to provide every player an equal and fair playing environment, through means such as abusing any exploit, bug or flawed game mechanic to cause server disruption or lag."
2b2t's terms

Players have recorded it for years: 2b2t bans players for lagging its server.

2b2t also has a queue. On 17 October 2026, 694 players were waiting, about two days from the back. For $19.99 a month, you get a shorter one, the priority queue. 6b6t has no queue at all.

Since 2019, players who build lag machines, builds made to slow the server down, have lost their priority queue. A plugin even takes priority from anyone standing in chunks that lag the server.

Does 2b2t Have Sulfur Cubes?

No. Sulfur cubes came with 26.2, and 2b2t is not on 26.2 yet.

"But there is a saving grace. 2b2t is currently one update behind. So, sulfur cubes have not been added yet."
FitMC

2b2t still runs 1.21.4, a version from December 2024, and its message in the server list said so on 17 October 2026. Next to it, server lists show the version as 1.7.2-26.2, but that only means those game versions can connect.

At 7:24, 2b2t's own message in the server list reads Updated to 1.21.4. Screenshot from FitMC's video.

2b2t sat on 1.12.2 for about six years, until 2023. Since 1.21.4, Mojang has shipped seven big updates, Chaos Cubed among them, and 2b2t has taken none. In July 2026, its team wrote on Reddit that it was working on an update, but that hardware is getting harder to get. Its website has posted no news since 19 December 2025.

2b2t also gave in to Mojang. In December 2025, it rewrote its rules, and it said why.

"to comply with an official notice from Mojang / Microsoft"
2b2t, 19 December 2025

Every player must now follow Microsoft's rulebooks. A chat filter came in January 2026, and it even blocks the word night. Players report punishments for swearing, builds and second accounts. 2b2t.blog lists the rules 2b2t added in December 2025. 2b2t is dying, and its players are leaving.

When 2b2t finally updates, it gets the same unfixed bug, and FitMC expects big problems.

Etianl will not even try it there.

"Due to the silly queue thing on 2b2t I will not be testing it there."
"I do not know anything about 2b2t's rules. I do not play there so I do not care to read them."
Etianl

He does not need to read them. Their line about lag would be enough to ban him.

6b6t took the other road. In July 2026, days after we moved to 26.2, Mojang blacklisted 6b6t, so the normal Java game will not connect to it. AnarchyMod, a free mod, turns that block off. We did not add a single rule. When the cubes came, we fixed it on the server and banned nobody for it.

Has FitMC Made Other Videos About 6b6t?

Yes. In March 2026, he played 6b6t's Hytale server on a second account, without telling us first. Two of his four videos in 2026 are about 6b6t.

FitMC is the biggest anarchy YouTuber, with 2.45 million subscribers. The sulfur video passed 200,000 views in under seven hours. In eight days, it passed the lifetime views of eight of his last ten videos.

In 2022, he made a video called "Why 2b2t MUST Update to Survive". 2b2t still has not caught up. Subscribe to FitMC on YouTube.
