Mojang Tried Banning 6b6t For The Second Time. They Lost AGAIN.
Mojang got our mod to bypass the blacklist, AnarchyMod, taken down from GitHub. We sent a counter-notice and brought the source code and downloads back with help from the organiser behind lawsuit.gg. 6b6t is still online, and players can still join.
On September 17, 2026, Mojang got AnarchyMod taken down from GitHub. This is the mod that allows players to join 6b6t despite the Minecraft blacklist. After failing to keep players out of the server in July, they have now targeted the software that lets them join.
We have already brought the source code and downloads back on new infrastructure, sent a formal DMCA counter-notice and received help from the person organising a lawsuit against Mojang with more than 2,845 participants.
6b6t is still online. The same world is still running. AnarchyMod is available, and players can still join. They got our GitHub repository removed. They did not shut down 6b6t.

What Happened
On September 17 at exactly 18:05:59 CEST, GitHub emailed us confirming that public access to the AnarchyMod repository had been disabled after receiving a DMCA takedown notice. This was a copyright complaint submitted by a Microsoft representative acting for Mojang.
The complaint did not target one texture, one sound or one piece of code. Mojang claimed:
“The entire repository is infringing.”

GitHub applied the takedown to 15 repositories, including our original project and 14 forks, which are copies maintained by other users. This removed public access to the source code and releases hosted there.
You can read Mojang's full DMCA complaint here. GitHub has published it publicly.
The complaint repeatedly objects to AnarchyMod allowing players to connect to 6b6t after the blacklist. Mojang describes its restrictions as part of its player-safety and platform-enforcement efforts. It lists Minecraft copyrights and refers to the EULA, but does not point to specific repository files containing Minecraft code or assets that we supposedly copied.
There is also an important detail in GitHub's own explanation. GitHub says it “did not find sufficient information to determine a valid anti-circumvention claim”, but still accepted other copyright claims and removed the repositories. It also included a separate note about software bypassing product-licensing checks, without specifying which affected repositories that applies to.
We are challenging those grounds, not accepting them.

The First Ban Did Not Work Either
On July 15, 2026, Mojang blacklisted 6b6t, after the server was online for over 4 years and hundreds of thousands unique players visited it. We kept the server online, kept the same world and provided AnarchyMod so players could continue joining. We did not introduce gameplay rules or give up on the server.
On August 14, less than a month later, 6b6t reached 1,155 players online at once without a queue during the dupe event. The. blacklist by Mojang was a spectacular failure.

Now Mojang has gone after the mod that made continued access possible. Their complaint succeeded in getting the GitHub page removed, but the mod is already available elsewhere. We are fighting to restore the original repository too.
How We Responded to the DMCA
In the early hours of September 18, we sent a formal DMCA counter-notice to GitHub with Kian Bröse's help. We demanded immediate reinstatement, an explanation of the alleged infringement and correction of any unsupported licensing-bypass classification.
![Email from copyright@github.com with the subject "[GitHub Support] Confirmation - Request Received", showing the time 01:37.](https://blog.6b6t.org/content/images/2026/09/github-anarchymod-counter-notice-received.png)
This was not just a support message asking for our repository back. We submitted a signed counter-notification with the required declarations. Our response challenges the claim against the entire project and demands that Mojang either substantiate its allegations or withdraw them.
You can read Mojang's full DMCA complaint here to understand what we're responding to.
Show What We Supposedly Copied
Our response states that AnarchyMod is independently written software. It does not distribute Minecraft's source code, compiled game files, artwork, textures or sounds. Minecraft is still needed separately.
If Mojang claims the entire repository infringes its copyrights, it should be able to explain what is infringing. We asked for the copyrighted work, the protected material supposedly copied, the relevant files or lines, and the copyright right allegedly violated.
If the allegation is about something the software does rather than material inside the repository, we asked them to explain that too. Listing Minecraft copyrights and saying the whole project is infringing is not an explanation of what we supposedly did wrong.
Changing Minecraft's Behaviour Is Not Automatically Copying Minecraft
AnarchyMod works alongside Minecraft. It does not distribute a replacement copy of the game. Our argument is that changing how the game behaves does not, by itself, establish copyright infringement.
We cited the EU's Sony v Datel judgment, Case C-159/23. That case concerned software changing data while a game was running, without changing or reproducing the game's source code, object code or internal structure.
The judgment supports a distinction that matters here: changing a program's behaviour is not automatically the same thing as copying its protected code. It does not decide AnarchyMod's case, but it is part of why we reject the claim that interacting with Minecraft automatically makes our independently written software infringing.
A Server Blacklist Is Not a Minecraft Licence Check
Mojang's complaint refers to Azure Active Directory sign-in and licence checks. GitHub's published notice also includes a note about software bypassing product-licensing checks.
We challenged any application of that classification to AnarchyMod's server-blocklist functionality. Allowing someone to connect to a blacklisted server is not the same thing as bypassing a check that they own Minecraft.
We asked which authentication, ownership or product-key check AnarchyMod supposedly bypasses, which code does it, and what technical evidence supports that conclusion. We also asked GitHub to distinguish the copyright takedown from any separate restriction under its own policies.
Pointing to the EULA Does Not Settle the Copyright Question
Our response also disputes Mojang's reliance on later contractual terms. It states that the mod's creator did not accept those later terms and remains covered by an earlier agreement.
That is our position in the dispute. We are challenging both the reliance on those terms and the idea that an alleged violation of Mojang's rules automatically establishes copyright infringement. Mojang needs to explain the copyright basis for taking down the project.
A Knowingly False Copyright Complaint Can Have Consequences
We expressly reserved our rights under 17 U.S.C. §512(f). This includes seeking damages and legal costs if a knowing material misrepresentation caused harm through GitHub acting on it and the other legal requirements are established.
We are not claiming a court has already decided that Mojang is liable. We are making clear that a copyright complaint against our entire project needs to be accurate.
Our demand is immediate reinstatement and a substantive response. Either back up the infringement allegations or withdraw them.
The counter-notice has been sent, but the original repository remains disabled. That is where the dispute stands. A GitHub takedown is not a court ruling that AnarchyMod is illegal, and sending our response is not a court victory. We believe the takedown was wrongful, and we are fighting it. GitHub will reply within 2-4 weeks.
The Person Suing Mojang Is Now Hosting AnarchyMod
Kian Bröse is the organiser behind lawsuit.gg, the group-action campaign against Mojang in Sweden with more than 2,845 participants. The case has been filed and is ongoing.
Kian helped me write the counter-notice we sent to GitHub. He has also agreed to bring attention to the takedown in the lawsuit's Discord community. His help did not end with the email.
6b6t.kianbrose.com is now live on his own infrastructure. It hosts the full AnarchyMod source code and release downloads. While we fight the takedown, his server is replacing GitHub for the project.
The person already organising a lawsuit against Mojang is now hosting the mod Mojang had removed from GitHub.
Kian is confident that his hosting servers will hold up. His view is that another disputed takedown targeting his servers while he is already suing Mojang could backfire on them and give him another action to challenge. That is his assessment, not a guarantee that Mojang cannot submit another complaint. His existing lawsuit and our counter-notice are separate.
In summary, it is very unlikely Mojang tries to shut down Kian's servers, as he has an active lawsuit against them.
Thank you, Kian, for helping us fight this and keeping the project available.

Where to Download AnarchyMod
You do not need to wait for GitHub to restore the repository. These are the official locations:
- Kian's Forgejo server: The complete AnarchyMod source code and release downloads.
- Our Cloudflare download mirror: Another place to download AnarchyMod releases.
- CurseForge: The existing listing and downloads remain available.
The source code is hosted on Kian's server, and downloads are available from all three locations. Follow the AnarchyMod installation instructions, use the file matching your Minecraft version and join 6b6t.
Removing the GitHub page did not remove AnarchyMod from the internet.

What Happens if Mojang Tries Again?
So far Mojang has tried shutting down 6b6t two times. They failed two times. We're ready to do whatever it takes to keep anarchy alive in Minecraft. 6b6t is being directly targeted while thousands of servers with gambling and P2W exist out there.
We will not give up and with your support, we will win.

6b6t Is Not Going Anywhere
I have spent more than four years building 6b6t. Players have spent years building bases, forming groups, creating map arts, fighting wars and leaving their history in this world. We are not abandoning that because Mojang got a download page removed.
We refused to shut down after the July blacklist. A month later, more than 1,155 players were online at once. Now the AnarchyMod source code and downloads are available again, and we are fighting to get the original repository restored.
Share this post and the official download links so players who find the disabled GitHub page know where to get the mod. We will continue publishing updates as the dispute develops.
Mojang got our GitHub repository taken down. They did not take down the server, delete the world or stop players joining. That is what we mean when we say they lost again.
2b2t became fake anarchy when they added rules. We will keep fighting for 6b6t and true anarchy will continue.
6b6t will remain online. We will not add gameplay rules. We will not reset the world.
6b6t on top.
