2b2t has had various backdoors that have allowed players to make changes that should have never happend, in this post we will be going in depth on the top 3 backdoors that happend in the history of 2b2t and comparing them to 6b6t!

Popbob Nether Roof Backdoor - #1

2b2t had an bug where players could get stuck on the nether roof, unable to move or escape this glitched state, the only way to get unstuck was to get teleported from the nether roof to another location- the owner of 2b2t housemaster did not want to continue to do this manually for players as it took a lot of time.

A player by the name of popbob, a now notorious 2b2t player provided the owner housemaster with a plugin that would allow players to run a command (/stuck) that would teleport them to below the nether roof, getting them usntuck. This plugin however included more then just a way for players to get unstuck, this plugin also included code that allowed popbob and other members of his base- now named "Plugin Town" to access operator level permissions on 2b2t.

Popbob and other plugin town members started using these permissions to spawn in illegals, build their bases quicker and troll players at spawn by placing ghasts!

Popbob ended up getting caught by hausemaster while absuing his operator permissions during one of his griefing sessions and got the backdoored plugin removed promptly.

Hausemaster claimed he had learned to no longer blindly trust community members and to implement their code. Popbob later attempted to backdoor the server once again by exposing another bug and kindly offering a plugin to resolve the issue, however this time Hausemaster had the plugin scanned for any backdoors before implementing it and preventing another backdoor from occuring.

A backdoor like this would never happen on 6b6t, all plugins are made by 6b6t developers and are carefully scanned to ensure no backdoors are implemented.

iTristan & Pyrobyte Anvil Bug - Backdoor #2

2 players by the name of iTristan and Pyrobyte designed a plugin to block players from entering the nether roof completely as hausemaster wanted to block this functionality, in this same plugin they hid another functionality that if an item was renamed with the suffix "/0xA7" that it would make it's Item Stack Size negative, causing it to become unbreakable.

Along with adding this unbreakability functionality Pyrobyte & iTristan also added other functionalities such as being able to bypass the nether roof blockade if they were riding entities

Over time iTristan & Pyrobyte continued to develop the plugin and even added an auto-updater functionality, allowing them to update the plugins code without having Housemaster upload the new plugin to the server.

With this auto update functionality iTristan and Pyrobyte added a lot more backdoor functionalities to the server such as spawning in player heads, teleportation and being able to change to gamemode creative.

Eventually Hausemaster asked iTristan and Pyrobyte to remove the auto update functionality in the plugin, after not doing Hausemaster removed the plugin and getting rid of the backdoor.

Hausemaster had once again fallen for a plugin made by a community member containing a backdoor, even while saying that he had learned to not trust communty members. iTristan's Website - Backdoor #3

After 2b2t switched ownerschip from Hausemaster to Georgebush420 there was a new, easy to target owner to exploit. After the server had been struggeling with financials and the 2b2t website had been down for a while the player iTristan coded a new website for the new owner to implement on the server. After implementing the new website- which contained a backdoor, iTristan fished the login details to the admin account and obtained root access to the servers host.

With this root access, iTrisant could do a lot more then any of the earlier backdoors, he could change region files, edit playerdata and completetly destroy the server. The root access way largely only used to duplicate large strucuters and grief other bases. The clan of iTristan and his friends- named "nerds inc." did a week of destruction, griefing one major base every day for an entire week.

Eventually the new owner Georgebush420 caught on to the backdoor and removed it promptly.
